🔮 Jaguar F Type Reliability Reddit

It has come time for me to purchase a car and I have included in my search some Jaguar F-types. I am located in the SF Bay Area. So initially, I found these at a local dealership. 2016 Jaguar F-TYPE Convertible @ 68k miles @ $30,888. 2014 Jaguar F-Type S Convertible @ 44k miles @ $32,888. 2014 Jaguar F-TYPE V8 S Convertible @ 24k miles @ $37,888 When Jaguar announced the I Pace, I actually said that they'd make a car with good build quality and driving dynamics but get everything else wrong. The charging and the infotainment especially. The combination of slower charging and low range for its battery-size class especially is a let down for its price tag. For me, the F-Type V8 put to rest the whole "slo car fast vs fast car slo" mentality. Driving that thing in low speeds in traffic with that exhaust was much more fun than driving a manual base Civic at full throttle. The exhaust burble even when going easy and being respectful was just so intoxicating on the Jag. It is a surprisingly reliable car. The reputation for Jaguar unreliability (mechanically) is something I have yet to see with friends and family who have had/have a number of the final generation of XJ, XE, and the first generation XF. The user interface/screen may be frustrating, but the rest of the car has a high chance of being great. I like the F type a lot, but long-term reliability would be too big of a questionmark for me. If we‘re only talking about new cars, I‘d probably have a V6/V8 F type over a new 718, but that‘s purely because of the sound being very important to me. Ideally though, I‘ll hopefully be able to upgrade to a 981 GT4 / Boxster Spyder at some point.
